130527_Diet_CokeCoca Cola’s latest fantastic marketing campaign is called the ‘Share a coke’ campaign!

The campaign see’s the iconic Coca Cola brand replaced on the front of bottles and cans  with the 150 most popular names in the UK, as decided by an ‘independent’ advisor!

The objective of this campaign is to ‘Sell bottles of Coke’ but Coca Cola are doing this not by mass media advertising but by using the traditional direct marketing technique of ‘Personalisation’ to ‘Get people involved’.

The ways in which Coke are asking people to ‘Share a Coke’

1. Visiting your local shop and buy a friend, family or loved one a coke with their name on.

2. Send them a photo of you sharing your Coke on Twitter @Cokezone using the #shareacoke.

3. Create and share a coke using the ‘Share a Coke’ Facebook App.

This is a great marketing strategy, appealing to the individual… It’s fun, friendly and involvlving. And let’s face it there is nothing more personal than a name!

The ‘Share a Coke’ campaign is a great example of how on and offline marketing activity can work together to create a very powerful and involving marketing campaign.

In addition to the sales that Coca Cola will undoubted see soar as a result of this campaign; Co

ca Cola will increase brand presence online, fanbases across Twitter and Facebook and collect that all important data from people; Name, Age, Email, Birthday…etc etc.

This campaign has only been running since the 29th April 2013, I cannot wait to see the campaign reports afterwards.  I wish i had thought of it!

Have you shared a coke yet?

  1. Even though I’m unlikely to see one with my name on, it is very clever.
They’re in the enviable position of being able to drop their own branding to focus on the individual.
They will do well, but they have put in the leg work 😉
